Live in unity

John 17:20-26  Jesus last prayer was for us was to be one, in unity.  What did it take to allow us to live in unity with the Father? The death of Jesus on the cross.   What will it take for us to live in unity with each other? The death of ourselves, from pride and anger.  Eph 4:3 Acts 2:1 Acts 1:14 Gen 11:6

Hands off

If you keep your hands on your life you will end up in desert parched places. If you take your hands off your life you will be lead to green pastures. If you are independent and trust in your own abilities or will end up in a parched land. If you are dependent on God you will be planted by water and will always be fruitful.

Sermon @ CITW this past Sunday

Jeremiah 15:19 When you are born again, wherever you set your foot is part of your ministry.  For believers, our eternal reward is based on our faithfulness in what God has called us to do.  7 Spheres of influence (pic)  The point isn't to pull people into the Church sphere but instead to send out people into the other 6 spheres.
Gods Kingdom is always working out of abundance. There's no limit to resources in His Kingdom. Give out of the abundance in your heart. Trusting God is horizontal. What that means is "they will know you are His disciples by the way you love each other".

Sowing and reaping

Galatians 6 (There is no reaping without sowing.) Some people expect a harvest and hoping for something, when they haven't sown! This is a spiritual principal. In order to reap, you have to sow. If you don't sow, you are always needing a miracle. Granted, miracles are great, and they should happen, but always living needing a miracle, that isn't God's best for you. A miracle is a suspension of a natural law. Miracles are temporary, blessings are eternal. Numbers 23:20 Manna ceased, but they ate from the fruit of the promised land that year. Joshua Ask God, what do I have to sow in order for this that I hope for to come to pass? Galatians 6:8 I you plant corn, you're going to get corn at harvest. Do you want to take part in leading a person to Christ? Sow the Gospel. (You determine what, but God determines when.) You need to be planting well ahead before your need. There is a waiting period before the harvest. Keep in mind that
The gospel does not change. Jesus is the cornerstone. Everything we do has to be measured to Jesus, just as every subsequent rock in a building was measured and levelled against the cornerstone. Rev 1:20 The church is the lampstand in this verse. The lamp stand required specific oil for fueling it. In this same manner, the church requires a specific "fuel" to work; the Holy Spirit. As a lampstand, we are to illuminate only one: Jesus Christ. Spread the good news of the Kingdom of God. The good news is that anyone can enter freely, to a Kingdom where there is no death, no sorrow, no harm. But love, joy, and eternal life. An expanding kingdom has authentic supporting evidence. When we declare that a new Kingdom is here, there has to be evidence, as is clear with the signs and wonders following those who obey God. Make the church healthy. Healthy things grow. The Kingdom of God should invade every area of your life. You can't have a bread that is half leavened. Yeast affect
Heb 11:1-3 God defines what faith is definition of faith: I believe God told the truth. -faith is established through worship/praise (Heb 11:4) -faith is strengthened by exercise You won't get more faith until you exercise what you have -faith is tested through waiting -faith is rewarded through surrender FYI. Being committed to God is not the same as being surrendered to God. -faith is victorious through perseverance
Hurry saps joy out of life and you don't enjoy life. "Lord, teach us to number our days" It is about changing our attitude, not counting our days. Making wise use of the time we have. We are like new grass in the morning but withered grass in the evening. In vain you rise up early and stay up late...Get rest. Enjoy sleeping. He gives sleep to those whom He loves. Enjoy eating. Good food. Don't hurry. Whatever you do, do for the glory of God. Run everything through this "pipe". We were made to magnify God. Are you teaching your children to feed on the Word of God? How do you spend your time and money? Teach your kids the importance of loving and serving. Wise families will let go of clutter, the stuff that keeps them from doing the important stuff of life. Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. -Hosea 4:6

Pentecost Sunday

Luke 24:46-48 Luke 11:13 Acts 2:38 John 16:7 The church should be a continuation of the incarnation. The power that was in Jesus is now residing in millions of His followers, and so in that sense Jesus said it is better that He go so that as the church we can do greater things, reach more people. Acts 8:14-17 Greek word: baptisio... Means to dip Just like back in the day in the big trade of cloth dying, the cloth was dipped in the dye and the cloth took on the characteristics of the dye; the cloth was in the dye and the dye was in the cloth. In like manner the holy spirit indwells in the believer and the believer takes on the characteristics of Him. There holy spirit wakes us up to God's Word. He can take the word written thousands on years ago to someone else, and make it applicable and relevant to your life today. He brings everything back to memory. Romans 8:26-27 John 11:33 Ephesians 5:18-20 There holy spirit encourages believers to worship.

Why are some people difficult?

1) they are different Different people can complement each other to have a greater impact. 2) they are hurting Hurting people hurt people What should I do? -Reevaluate yourself - are you a difficult person? -Realize that you are not called to please men, but God. You are called to love and not please. -Forgive those who wronged you -Find a way to serve them

Don't hurry

Hurry saps joy out of life. You dont enjoy life. Therefore, get down on knees and pray together with your family. "Lord, teach us to number our days" "Lord, relent, please have mercy on us" It is about changing our attitude, not counting our days. Making wise use of the time we have. We are like new grass in the morning but withered grass in the evening. Ps 90 God is angry at sin and sinners. Wise families would do the math. In vain you rise up early and stay up late...Get rest. Enjoy sleeping. He gives sleep to those whom He loves. Enjoy eating. Good food. Don't hurry. Discover the one thing that really matters...Love God and your neighboor as yourself....because nothing in this life that you do will matter, unless you love God. Whatever you do, do for the glory of God. Run everything through this "pipe". We were made to magnify God. Are you teaching your children to feed on the Word of God? How do you spend your time and money? Teach

Notes on our mission

Married to mission of church Love vision Love core values Like strategy Like ministries The mission is unchanging. Mat 16:13-18 Mat 28:19 Gal 1:8-9 The gospel does not change. The good news is that anyone can enter freely, to a Kingdom where there is no death, no sorrow, no harm. But love, joy, and eternal life. 2 Cor 5:20 We used to be there, but have separated ourselves. We can return and be reconciled, and be in the Kingdom of God. An expanding kingdom has authentic supporting evidence. When we

Exercise note from appt with Jemal

Protein intake 1.2g/kg maintain (78g) 2g/kg grow (130g) Proper diet is 70% of the battle. Increase calorie intake as well, 2500 to 3000. Recommend peanut butter scoop to shakes, or other nuts or good fats like avocado, pbj as a snack. That will add calories. Not a fan of weight gainers bc not as nutritious. Deadlifts... Single best growth exercise as it incorporates every major muscle group. Do 5 sets with 10 reps. You can build a great workout around deadlifts. Another good one is pull ups. As for the core, if done properly needs rest like other groups. Rest important between sets. Major group workout up to 2 mins. Minor up to 1 minute. You can get super sets in between rests. Super sets are great. Recommend. Steam room / sauna are both great for recovery.

You get to choose what you think

You get to choose what you think You're as free as you are free in your mind. First words of warfare "Hath God really saith..." Before satan can defeat you he has to disarm you. Battlefield of good and evil is in the mind. No one is going to get set free until they want to get free. The place where you engage your enemy is in your thoughts. Any thought that you don't take captive will take you captive. 2 Cor 10:3-5 You decide what you think. You decide what gets to enter there AND reside there. You are the gate keeper of your mind. James 4:7 Resist the devil and he will flee from you. What's the litmus test for stuff entering into our mind? Truth. Ask: is this truth according to Gods Word that is in my mind? Otherwise you will be governed by your emotions and your thoughts. Ephesians 6:10-17 That person that is bothering you so much is not your enemy. There are spiritual battles with physical manifestations. R

Always ask the Holy Spirit

Jesus said that it is good that He goes because then the Helper can come to us. The Helper can teach, guide, and help all brothers and sisters at once, but Jesus was limited in the physicality of His body on earth.    So always  ask the Holy Spirit what to do in any situation.

High Quality Giving

Giving has to be high quality, high priority   Some Jewish people gave, but gave sick and maimed animals for sacrifice.    Spend   Repay debt   Pay taxes   Save   Give   Should be   Give   Save   Pay taxes   Repay debt   Spend   Mat 6:30

Truth is not relative

At what temperature does water boil? Water boils at 100°C. This fact is indisputable. At what temperature is the room most comfortable? This is a relative question. Some might say 70 Fahrenheit, others might say 72. When considering the question of how does one get to Heaven, many people see this as a relative question. However, it is not and there is only one way to heaven.

Vision Sunday

Vision Sunday *** FOLLOW *** Eph 5:15-21 It's not enough to just get through. It's not Gods plan to just save you from destruction and that you just get by in life. In 2014, the vision God gave to CITW "Empowering disciples who authentically represent Jesus" Followers of Jesus + Gods Word + Gods Spirit = Empowered disciples Acts 1:8 The Holy Spirit brings freshness and vibrancy to your life. Without it, you will be trying to do it by yourself and you will feel a weight on your shoulders. Why is God empowering us? Yes, there's a benefit for us, but the main reason is to accomplish the great commission. Mark 2:17 Eph 5:15-16 The time talked about here has two meanings in Greek. "Chronos" - a specific moment in time. I.e. We will go eat lunch at 12:30 today. "Kairos" - a passing instant when an opening appears which must be driven through with force if success is to be achieved. Don't be stagnant. Don&#

Frustrated by freedom

Numbers 11:1-16 The people were freed after centuries of slavery, and not soon after freedom they whined and wanted to go back. John 5:24 Pointing back to exodus 14, when Israelites walked through the Red Sea. There was a status change; one moment slaves, and the next free. However just because there was a status change, doesn't mean there was a life and heart change. This life in Egypt and then freedom is a foreshadowing of things to come. Pharaoh illustrates the devil, Egypt the bondage of sin, Moses the deliverer, Passover the sacrifice of Jesus. "I know I'm out of Egypt, but how do I get Egypt out of me?" You can't go into the Promised Land until you learn to trust and depend on God. Just like the Lord took the disciples into the storm on the Sea of Galilee; so they can learn to trust Him. Until we do so, we will be walking around in circles; staying stuck in sin, destructive cycles, etc. We crave the familiar, the comfortable, and w

Promises

God made around 3500 promises, written in the Bible. These promises should be the starting point in your prayers. Even though God made these promises, we should still fast and pray for these promises to come to pass, like many of the faithful in the Bible. See Dan 9:23 Dan 10:12-13

Bible study

Bible study James 4:4 You shouldn't desire to be like the world to look cool and not be an outcast. Instead you are supposed to be different so people can tell a difference and see a difference in you. God's ambassador should not blend into the world but stand out. Then, when need comes, those around you will know to whom to turn. People look at you and they are reading you like a book...what kind of book are you. James 4:5 Why would you hide your affection to your significant other? If your wife loved you wholeheartedly to your face, yet hanging out with friends she acted like she doesn't care about you, how would you feel? The key to ending your friendship with the world is to submit yourself to God.

Prayer life

Acts 10:1-8 It's a lie that the world says a Christian life is boring. Were Peters' and Pauls' life boring? But if you don't pray, your life might be boring. "The more I pray, the more coincidences happen" -Cory Tenebaum "When I work...I work. When I pray...God works" When you pray, you will meet people you would otherwise never have met, and you will go through doors you would never have gone through, and you will fight battles you would never have fought.
