*** FOLLOW ***

Eph 5:15-21
It's not enough to just get through.
It's not Gods plan to just save you from destruction and that you just get by in life.

In 2014, the vision God gave to CITW
"Empowering disciples who authentically represent Jesus"

Followers of Jesus + Gods Word + Gods Spirit = Empowered disciples

Acts 1:8

The Holy Spirit brings freshness and vibrancy to your life. Without it, you will be trying to do it by yourself and you will feel a weight on your shoulders.

Why is God empowering us? Yes, there's a benefit for us, but the main reason is to accomplish the great commission.

Mark 2:17
Eph 5:15-16

The time talked about here has two meanings in Greek.
"Chronos" - a specific moment in time. I.e. We will go eat lunch at 12:30 today.
"Kairos" - a passing instant when an opening appears which must be driven through with force if success is to be achieved.

Don't be stagnant. Don't stay the same. Grow in Christ this year, so that at the end of the year you can say I have grown in Christ by His grace.

Mark 8:34

*** CONNECT ****

You have to be connected to the body. Say you cut off a part of your body...that part will shrivel up and die. Same with a member of the body of Christ. You have to be connected to the body... To pray for each other, uplift each other, have an accountability friend, attend study groups.

*** DISCOVER ***

Find your talents and skills that God has given you.

Psalm 139:13-16

You have a purpose. Seek it. Discover it. And live it.

*** DO ***

The best thing you can do for yourself is to serve someone else. This is counter to what society says.

1 Pet 4:10
John 15:11

If you want to have Joy in your life, start serving! Stop living as a consumer and start living as a contributor.

To work on time

I had the intention of leaving to work on time this morning, but I left late because the freezing rain last night froze my door shut, and windows required heavy scraping. I was able to get in the car after some prying, and scraped a "hole" big enough to see ahead of me through the windshield (not best practice). After asking the Lord for help in getting to work on time, I arrived safely, and with a minute to spare :) Praise God!

I no longer make the best fried fish

Last night for dinner I made some fried fish. Aliza said it is the best fried fish. This morning, it is the first thing she said also, "Daddy, you make the best fried fish". I hugged her, and we went downstairs. It's Monday, so I'm getting some things ready before I head out the door, and she asked for some chocolate covered pretzels...I gave her a couple and she cries out for more. When I denied her request for more, she cries and yells "You don't make the best fried fish!"

Update

Much happened since the last 3 months, and I should have kept up with posting updates, but I was lazy. I'm sorry. I'm going to mention one marvelous testimony for now. On October 13, I went to see a doctor for the results of a test a week prior. Since a few months before then, I felt shortness of breath and chest discomfort, and that's why I went to the doc in the first place. So, on the 13th, doc said I had class 1 heart failure, outputting 35% of blood. I was put on meds, and began praying for healing. I prayed with my wife, I prayed with the prayer team at church, and believed I would be healed, though often the devil lied to me with doubt that it would not happen. This past Friday, Nov 6th, however, I went in for an angiograph, to see if the coronary arteries were part of the issue. After the test, the doctor stated that the heart was beating just fine, without problems! God's timing is perfect!
