How is your fruit?

You were appointed, chosen, to be a fruit bearer. Gal 5:16-26 One question to ask yourself: am I more in love with Jesus today than a year ago? Do I bear more fruit for the Lord today, than a year ago? Think about this: everything has a cycle. Season, dishwashers, marriages, addiction, and even producing fruit for the Lord. Heb 10:14 you are immediately made sanctified in Christ. :::Cycle of fruitfulness::: 1) recognize the Spirit and walk in the Spirit, and so you will drive out sin. Kind of like a room that is dark because the light is not on; to "remove" the dark, you turn on the light (See Gal 5:16-26, Rom 6:10-11; see yourself dead to sin) 2) application: sow into the Spirit (See Gal 6:7-9, Rom 6: Paul says our old sin nature is dead when we are with Christ. What Christ killed, what are we doing resurrecting it?) So why do we still sin? Because though your Spirit is renewed, your mind and your flesh still speak your old language. In a way, your habits have to be conform

Journal the rice cake

Aliza is so wonderful. I have a little journal where I record my food intake for the day and my little sweetheart brought me a rice cake and the journal and said "here you go dad, eat this and record it in the journal."

A permanent resident

After the fall, God would visit people. Moses and the burning bush, etc. But God would prefer to not be a visitor in your life, but would like to be a permanent resident in your life. Emmanuel: God with us. There's only one seat at a place where God habituates that He will accept, and that's the throne. As a permanent dwelling place, given to God to stay in your life. Think about a guest coming to your house, and the guest wanting to sit in your favorite chair. It wouldn't be hard To let them sit in that chair because you know they will eventually leave. But would you give up your favorite chair permanently for God?

Almost free

Sharks are such animals that they grow according to their surroundings and boundaries. That means if they are placed in a small tank, they will only grow to a limited size. Exodus ch8:25 Pharaoh agreed to let people go but he wanted to keep restrictions on them. "Whom the Son sets free, he is free indeed." Believers are able to adapt and try to do ministry with chains on. For example doing ministry with addictions. God didn't say "loosen the chains" but said "Let my people go!" You cannot serve two masters. You cannot try to serve God and hold onto your old ways. Serving win boundaries will stunt your growth...you will be held back. Also, being a witness is part of who you are! It's not something that you turn on and off at your convenience on a Saturday outreach. (Listen to CITW message from today) Fanatic: someone who serves the Lord in such a way that you are bothered by it. They are more sold out than you.

Giants and mountains

David slung the stone towards Goliath, the stone represented the stone the builders rejected and it hit the death blow to the giant right between the eyes... The giants are right there in your head... The giants you are fighting are in your head... The mountains are in your thoughts.

We are like conduit

We are like conduit inside our homes; carrying current inside. We have to be connected to the source. We have to work to eat... So we have to work to grow spiritually to see a result. God can convict, but He doesn't condemn. Vessels of gold and silver...best conductors. Maintain yourself as a good conductor for God. Grace can be seen as the power to do what is right.

A new government

You don't know the outcome, you don't have to try to figure it out. You just have to obey. Is 9 For tells of a new government. 1) intervention 2) bring light 3) bring joy Jesus is bringing a whole new way to live. 1) a new leader -you are dependent on the shepherd -has absolute authority 2) a new law 3) a new liberty

Encouragement is critical

Phil 2:25-30 Encouragement is critical. It is NOT optional. Research shows that more criticism is given out than encouragement. Heb 10:19-25 As a church, we come together not only to hear and be filled up, but to encourage one another in the pews, in the lobby. Prov 11:25 Sounds like sowing and reaping. When you refresh others you yourself will be refreshed. When we encourage one another we build up and we put courage into another. Acts 4:35-36 An encourager is likely also generous. You can help someone experience Victory in their life by encouraging them. Encourage people in who they are. Their identity, as a child of God. That's the base. Also encourage them in their purpose, their faith. Tip: Try to catch people doing something right or well. Then encourage away!

Sermon Notes from January 18, 2015

Sermon notes, CITW, January 18, 2015 "Necessity of Oneness" The devil plants lies in peoples minds. The only way you're going to be truly happy is by following the principles found in the Word. Oneness - joined together in unity. Moving in the same direction. Same goals.  You don't want everyone to be the same as you. We were made different for the following reason: 1 Cor 12:25 Gen 2:24, Mat 19:3-8, Mark 10:2, Eph 5:25-27, 1 Cor 6:15-17 : The use of one flesh has been used five times. When man and female come together the union is part of the image of God... As the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one. How do you become one... Let's consider how we became one spirit with the Lord...we had to die. Die to self. It is similar with our spouse...we have to die to self. Often times we focus on being right...but we should focus on being right with our spouse.  The key to a successful Christian life? You must die to yourself. The key to a successful marriage? Yo
This was from a while back:  Aliza likes to sleep in her sisters room, even though we usually tell her to go to her room. Tonight, she told me to go downstairs so she can go to her sisters room. I pretended to go down the stairs and Aliza proceeded to go to her sisters room. I cleared my throat and she said with a giggle "o man, I didn't know you were there, I thought you went down stairs... Sneaky. I have to keep my eye on you." She's so funny!
Joy is not a pursuit...it is a promise. Happiness is external. Joy is internal. 2cor4:16-18 Joy is a choice. Psalm 51:12 You can't lose your joy...we can only trade it in for sin and fleshly pleasures. We trade in our joy for busyness, sin. God is not interested in our busyness but in fruit. Who sets your schedule? Write down everything you do...then determine what is bearing fruit. 2tim2:4 John15:4 abide in Christ
1st Cor 13:4-7 Rom 2:4 In marriage, there are expectations. On the other hand, there's the actual behavior that occurs. In between is the gap, into which we put in "Assume the Worst", or "Believe the Best". We fill the gap with either of those two. When we fill the gap with "Assuming the Worst" it will eventually manifest in our own behavior. Couples that are happy in their marriage and it lasts, fill the gap with "Believe the Best". Water and bless your partner. Remember that it was God's kindness that lead you to repentance.
Nearly all successful people have a coach, or mentor...someone pushing them to do better. Follow up on what you say and keep your word. Guide your subordinates along. ________________________________ Disclaimer Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail, and any attachments and/or documents linked to this email, are intended for the addressee and may contain information that is privileged, confidential, proprietary, or otherwise protected by law. Misplaced Identity

The moment you begin comparing yourself to others is the moment that you begin to misplace your identity. Paul told the Corinthians that we are all ONE body. And that people are different parts of the body, having different gifts. AND that no one gift is more important than another. How can you compare yourself to someone else when you are DIFFERENT? I cannot compare myself to anyone else because my purpose is unique. Another likely has a different purpose. Lastly, the fear of human opinion disables. John 12:42 Think about this... If you don't apply to a college, you will not get a letter in the mail saying that they don't accept you there. You did not apply there and did NOT need their acceptance. It is the same you people... If you don't need their acceptance, they can't reject you. ________________________________ Disclaimer Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail, and any attachments and/or documents linked to this email, are intended for the addre

Joy is a choice part 2

Phil 4:1-11 Christians should be marked with joy more so than anyone else in the world. Joy is a choice Deutronomy 28:47 We think joy is a result and not a choice. Joy is something that you learn as Paul has learned. Think about your prayer life. How much do spend to change the outside, than changing inside of us. You can't control the outside but you can control the inside. You can't stop situations, people, life stuff bumping, hitting, attacking you. Changing jobs, wives, house, car will not stop the bumps from coming. But, you can control what comes out of you! Phil 4:6-7 2 Cor 4:17-18 Paul's affliction was light and momentary. This is nothing compared to the Glory of God that awaits us in heaven. Have an eternal perspective! Phil 4:8

Bella and her amazingness

Sweet 2 year young Bella picked up the broom and pan and swept up something in the living room. She came to the kitchen and said "Mama move" as she wanted to empty the seemingly empty pan into the trash. She then preceded to put back the broom and pan into their proper place.

Sermon notes

In uncertain times things get shaky Wrong becomes right and right becomes wrong. Peter says to look forward at the fact that Jesus is returning and will make things right Peter says to gird up your loins / roll up your sleeves and get to work Learn to say NO to unedifying If you start living in the river of this world, you WILL have a deadened heart and you will become apathetic to the things of God We will be in front of God and will give an account for our lives Flee from sin... DON'T put yourself in a place or situation where you will be tempted more. Like Joseph fled from the potifers wife when she seduced him If you don't have an appetite for reading the Word write down a word or verse from the Word and look at it through out your day.
Aliza joked recently, saying "I don't want to leave here" Referring to our future move "I guess I'll just have to live with Babcia and won't see you guys as much"
