Called Higher: Strongholds

2 Cor 10:3-5
Mat 16:21-23

Strongholds - where the enemy is entrenched.
+Illustration: think of a map of a country in war and how strongholds in some areas of the country will result in a different way of life for whoever lives there. Now think about your mind and how the enemy might have strongholds in your mind.

How do strongholds develop?
1) Long standing, secret sins. 2) Through society and culture that is anti the Word. 3) Spiritual starvation. 4) Mental or emotional trauma.

Confess your sins to each other so you may be healed. James 5:6

How do you know you have a stronghold?
If you can't hear, receive, accept & apply... Truth. When people are resistant and justify their actions and behavior.

How do we tear down strongholds?
By divine power (see Corinthians above).
Any stronghold can be destroyed if you use the right weapon... A sudden demolition, not a long battle.

Lastly, we all have some stronghold. And we all have to learn to take every thought captive.

Sermon notes from Citw

Joy to the world the Lord has come Based on psalm 98 God’s promises are truly,  unlike men's promises. His second coming is at hand. 2 Peter 3:9-11 He's waiting for us to speed the Gospel. We are stewards of the mysteries. Have you been faithful in that stewardship? Live a life of evangelism. Share the Gospel. Christmas is a good time to also celebrate Christ's second coming. The celebration has been twisted by Satan to become commercialized and a frantic,  stressful time. The Lord's second coming should not be a fearful awaiting... Stashing food and weapons... But you should love His appearing. Rev 21:4-5 1 Cor 15:58 Rev 20:9 Always examine your life in light of his return. Acts 1:11 Live with intensity. Are you going to live knowing that Jesus could come back this year? Will you live this new year like you lived this past year? If so, you're likely to get the same result. The saved are born twice and die once and are raised in the first resurrection...

Today

Today David my brother in law who is visiting us for the summer, found a ticket on the train to Chicago. Soon after we arrived and left the train, a man came up asking for help in buying a ticket for the train. David had one! Praise God that this you g man now had this ticket, as God provides opportnities like this to impact the world in a positive way. Mom Reyes, my mom in law, told me a story about a homeless veteran who died outside in the winter months in Alexandria. She said that he was offered help and was off the streets for six months, but after that time he was back homeless. Mom said that the man, Jimmy, may have had trouble with his mind. He may have had trouble keeping a job in his state of mind. That's tragic.
Today at work, I was searching for a solution to a project, regarding calculating of shipping to Canada with Google Checkout, and was browsing in FireFox, with some search results open in a window. I was then about to open up an Internet Explorer window, which had some examples to resolve the issue at hand, though in XML code, which was different than what I use at work, but felt in my hear not to open that window, but to continue searching in FireFox. After continuing to search in FireFox, the next search result I opened included an example to Canada with the code which I use. Weeeeoeoeoeooewoowowowowowowoow owwoowowowo. Obedience to the Lord is woowowowowoowowoeooeooeooewoowo eowoowoeoowowwwowowowo awesome.
